影片取材自唐代裴刑短篇小说集《传奇》里的《聂隐娘》一篇，讲述聂隐娘幼时被一尼姑掳走，过了五年被送回已是一名技艺高超的女刺客，一次她奉命刺杀刘昌裔却为对方气度折服转而投靠，后又化解精精儿、空空儿两次行刺，是为名噪一时的传奇女侠。
