本剧讲述了上世纪二三十年代云南腾冲这个翡翠古城的一个传奇故事，一块玉石界天下无双的皇帝玉，一批为它献出生命的玉雕大师，一段经历了岁月洗礼的沉淀，造就了让人垂涎的绝世珍宝，玉中之王，翡翠凤凰！一代玉雕大师文之光因为收藏了 “翡翠凤凰”，招来杀身之祸，各方势力争夺不休，文之光最终导致家破人亡。
