Aban was born in Portland, Oregon, USA in 1884 and died in 1955. He was unmarried and childless. Aban did not like to live in conformity with the rules. In 1905, when he was just in his third year at Stanford University, he dropped out of school to join the society and got a job as an intern reporter.
